My son is very nearly 8 years of age and its time to get him into some kind of motorsport, his sister (12) races ministox but he cannot do this until 11 and he loves his karting, he has been going on and off since he was 3 and has only really ever been in slow hire karts, last week he had a go in a friends kart, im not sure what it was but im sure it had a Honda 160 4 stroke engine in it which is similar engine i believe to the hire karts but was capable of 29 second laps instead of 36 round the track, anyway, we live in Warwick so have quite a few tracks near us, we have a very limited budget so wish to get into the karting scene at a very low level but for my son to be able to enjoy himself more than anything.
Can anyone on here point us in the right direction and let me know the kind of kart he should have and the classes he can race in, im sure someone one day said there was some kind of help through a school or something, my knowledge is extremely limited although i did have a rotax some years back so have had a little experience.
