Iv played football. iv raced sailing boats.
Everyone plays football so its popular but not competative at all levels and like you say a rubbish team will still win in a season.
With sailing i used to win every week. could have easily got into the national squad with a bit more commitment.
Karting. Wow to get front of club stuff is major work. Its taken me and dad 5 years to get to a level i feel we can contemplate even trying our hand at S1 and doing respectable. Alot of people come into the sport being used to doing well at other sports and i think when they dont win after 2 years or so they get disheartend, and leave. Its quite a harsh sport. 5 races and you could have a national level driver pushing you over the line at 60mph with your back wheels off the ground! dont get me wrong there are exceptions like Jack Barlow who hasnt raced long, but is a top euro driver now. but then you could argue he has done a lot of racing in them few years, and had alot of experience/help.
Try playing football 5 times and going up against effectivly a semi pro football team!!!
Thats where we lose drivers. I dont think its always the money. as you can do well on a smallish budget. its the time/effort commitment.
