Is this new class going to bring new people into karting, or just entice people to move class.
If you are looking for an engine based on price, TKM appears to have a cheaper TAG engine, there are cheaper Rotax second hand outfits on the market. Whilst the new engine might be cheap, there will not be the option to buy cheap 2nd hand kit for a while, so you will have to buy new bits from the importer Mr Cox. And what about Formula Blue, surely this competes directly with that class.
I dont see an incentive for clubs either, another grid so another 45 mins on a race day in winter. Chances are the new grid will result in smaller grids for the other classes as those drivers move over to this new one and then because there are smaller grids, those that are left stop racing at that club because the grid is too small.
So M Simpson is going to race it next year, whoopee! so you will now have a new class with a top driver, top equipment, so if you want to compete with him you will have to have a top engine and top kit. How many of you are confident you can build a good engine. No doubt Mr Cox will build one for you if you pay him, it might be cheaper than Rotax but how often will you have to have it done. Will it last 35 hours between rebuilds.
I am sure that Andy Cox has the best interests of karting somewhere in a list, but I dont think its as high as making as much money as possible from karting. As for the involvement of Mr Deavins and Vega tyres, is this because he might have lost the Rotax contract for next year and needs to have a fall back plan to keep his income up as well.
I would still like to see George Robinsons report, even if it did say things that the MSA did not like. Most people seem to think that there are too many classes in Karting and here we are with a proposal for another one.
