Funny you should mention Bowman karts and electric motors. In roughly 1995 zytek built an electric kart, possibly because my brother works there and races karts (gearbox) himself, at the time me and him and a few more of the guys marshalled at our local indoor track, because of this zytek used to bring the kart down for shakedown, now i saw some pretty decent electric setups at the shows but this was some piece of kit. I remember a big black anodised box resembling a car stereo amplifier with cooling fins on it with a rubber duck ariel sticking out, this housed all the electronics, the pods were full of Varta batteries supplied by sheffield uni and were whats used on harriers.
The motor was designed and built by zytek, i remember it being oil cooled, black anodised case with fins and not much bigger than an alternator. The engineering that went into it theirs was like F1 compared to a radical when you looked at other makes, with tweeking they got the power to last quite well, sadly it didnt take off and the project just fizzled out, dont think zytek be that bothered, it was just the start of bigger things for them
Sorry to hijack the thread though Brian :(
