Waved Yellow

I have read the Blue Book, the maximum place penalty is 5 places.

My lad qualified 7th in Minimax and had row 2 starts for both heats. He was wiped out in the first corner after taking 2nd place and finished 18th. The lad who wiped him out finished in the top 8. A protest would not have benefitted my lad in the slightest if it had resulted in a place penalty. Why should I put my money down to sort that out. There is the risk of us loosing the protest and our money and my lad would not benefit in the slightest. If the other lad had been excluded it would have only benefitted us in a 1 place improvement. Again why should I risk my money for that?
