A|ll event scales must have an annual calibration certificate issued a copy of which must be available to view upon request also it is on the MSA stewards meeting check list allong with fire extinguisher service record and the track licence. This does, however not say that your weight may vary during the day, indeed I have noted a 2kg change during a very hot day, mostly from me! plus fuel level changes, tyre wear etc. Most clubs will announe at drivers briefing that those are the scales for the day so you do need to constantly check if you know you are marginal. Using fuel as ballast is one way but don't forget that the rules state that you must be on or above the minimum weight at all times and you are required to have a minimum of 1 litre of fuel left in the tank for post race fuel checking.
