.......the legendary documentary filmmaker? If not, I bet if you called the BBC, told them your name and asked to speak to the programme controller he would take your call!

My number has been posted on this site several times and I have always made it clear anyone can call me if you want to discuss something specific, offer an opinion, ask a technical question or offer some assistance..... It's 0871-220-5365, so call if you want to.

There are reasons behind most of the editing decisions, some based on personal preferences and some based on the technical requirements, so call me if you want to know something rather than assuming.

Onboard cameras already record as a menu option in the PAL format @ 25fps, but I have to spend approx. 6 hours transcoding the footage from onboards to a suitable HD format that I can use to edit with the main camera footage as a multiclip in FCP, as all of the material has to have the same video, frame size and audio settings, and the Go Pro HD uses a slightly different format than I need for editing purposes.

And as for speeding up the footage on the onboard cameras..... The onboard cameras have to be synchronized with the footage and timecode of the main cameras before editing using the multiclip feature (where all camera footage runs at the same time in a window allowing me to select which shot to use at any given moment). By definition therefore, If it was speeded up it would run out of synch with the other material. I guess you could speed it up afterwards, but why?...... it's OBVIOUSLY quick enough, based on that comment. Don't be embarrassed that it's speeded up, only that you said it was! It did make me smile.... and shake my head in amazement though!
