Davy - LOL and in your world karting will just die of boredom! Or perhaps all karters would have blonde hair and blue eyes? :)
There does seem to be a lack of direction shown by the MSA in the classes they approve - but I would much rather it were this way than your one class fits all strategy! The individual clubs always have a choice of what they run .. if they want to run a limited number of classes so be it - ultimately demand will determine what gets run. The only thing I can think of that might help is a coherent strategy across the country of classes that get run together if grids are below a minimum of say 15 drivers in one of the classes? Eg if nationally TKMs are automatically allowed to enter Blue grids (or vice versa) then it becomes an accepted part of these classes and ensures healthy grids and the opportunity to race your Blue or TKM anywhere in the country. It can only be good for both classes?
Perhaps I am biased however ... I run in a class where there are full grids at every race (looks like B finals for Juniors, Snr LW and HW this year) ...fanatastic powerful air cooled kart motors, good clean racing and equal machinery at sensible prices. Why would I want to depart from this for your Rotax only world?
