CMR helmets may well be safer for the smaller/younger cadets who cannot fit into currently available Snell standard helmets but for those drivers whose XS size helmets fit them perfectly there is no improvement. All this rule does for the older/larger cadets is take money out of their pockets.
I cannot see any reason why a Snell standard helmet, that fits correctly, cannot be allowed after a check of the fit by the scrutineer - in conjunction with CMR helmets that would invariably be bought by the smaller drivers who cannot fit standard helmets.
Are you really suggesting that an XS sized Snell standard helmet that fits correctly is now unsafe ?? I don't think so - otherwise there would be no XS sized helmets on the market (and used safely by motorcyclists, both on the road and on the track.)
This is yet another example of a poorly thought out rule that is applied in a "black and white" manner and does nothing to encourage people to support the MSA.
And stop using the phrase "Please think about your kid's safety, you only get one head" in such a condescending manner. I and my kids (3off) have been involved in this sport for the last 30 years and do take safety seriously - all I would like to see is some common sense applied by the governing body.
