The usual problem with early karters is that they `input` too much steering lock which results in the rear being unstable, also they wander off the racing line when cornering, getting onto the less grippy part of the track, move all the ballast to the back of the seat, try and set the kart up to induce understeer until they become more gentle on the input of lock. Narrow the front track, use the inner holes nearest the bottom of column, (if any) to reduce steering lock, i`ve even found going to `centre` point on the column, by joining the two track rods on the single hole, rather than the two-point. May require longer track rods. He will get it in the end, it just takes time and patience.
