God help us!! The whole reason that Tal-Ko have decided on these changes is because more manufacturers had decided not to homologate a TKM Chassis for the next period. Opening up the Chassis rules not only allows people to pick up a cheap CIK Chassis and race with some minor adjustments, it also allows older TKM Chassis that would have come outside of the Homologation period to continue to be used with just minor modification for the bodywork. All of a sudden, everybody is on about buying a new CIK Chassis!!
Whilst I welcome most of the changes, I am dead against the new tyres, although I suspect it is a halfway measure to ensure that CIK Chassis can compete with TKM ones. I suggest that anyone who races TKM next year ensure that they keep their eyes open, as I can imagine quite a few CIK Chassis turning up to be used, with the caster/camber adjusters still intact and torsion bars still fitted, mainly through ignorance of the regs.
As for having a go at Tal-Ko, it isn't their fault that the MSA/AbKC have to ratify the changes first, is it? Imagine if they had announced their plans, only for the MSA to say "you can't do that"!! I thinks that an announcement in early October is perfectly acceptable for plans to be made for next year.
All-in-all, these changes should make it cheaper and easier for newcomers to enter the sport in the first place and, hopefully, in the best class: TKM!!
