as has been previously mentioned i would advise go to clay this weekend. gain some information about all the senior classes. you could then come again to clay and watch the endurance racing.
the following weekend 26th and 27th is the dunkeswell race meeting. this is at honiton and i personally know quite a few racers in different classes from poole and bournemouth. with dunkeswell we generally dont run formula blue or TKM due to not enough interest. how ever we run senior rotax max and senior rotax max 177 for the heavier drivers. we also run 250 gearbox national karts which are a sight to behold. this is a class that clay pigeon do not run.
the following weekend 3rd and 4th october, forest edge meeting at andover is run. this club runs senior max, senior max 177, senior TKM, Senior Blue.
this will give you a very good idea of what is run locally.
so to recap
Weekend 1 Clay club meeting Senior Blue Senior TKM Senior Rotax Max Senior Rotax Max 177
Weekend 2 Clay endurance
you could also come down to an open practice at dunkeswell on the saturday.
Weekend 3 Dunkeswell Club Meeting Senior Rotax Max Senior Rotax Max 177 250 National Gearbox
weekend 4 Forest Edge Senior Blue Senior TKM Senior Rotax max Senior Rotax max 177
from this you can see that you can get a very informative of the classes run locally. however i would not look at buying until you have been to all three once, and been to a number of meeting to gain as much information as possible.
it would be good to hear the same information many times than to enter a kart class without knowing each classes pro's and con's. and there are pro's and cons to each class.
hope this helps
