I wouldn't worry about QOT though, he's been there, done it and heard it all before. He would have heard loads of racers bragging over the years only to be no where now.

What worries me is that with all the changes supposedly going on in TKM over recent times and possibly now, the class is going to become very confusing to any newcomers. They will have the choice of TKM Direct Drive, TKM Clutch, TKM TAG, TKM chassis, CIK chassis, 30mm and 50mm and 2 green label slicks out there on the market.

It's confusing to me and I've only been away for a year. It's quite frustrating really, I suppose we will just have to wait and see but it's leaving it all too late IMO.

I agree with RoadRat, why do some want a softer tyre? If everyone is on harder compounds then everyone has the same chance of winning and the more skilful drivers should show up in the results, on top of this the drivers can make the tyres last longer. With a softer compound there will be a much less difference between the best and worst drivers, also the tyres won't last as long and this pushes up costs. Why would anyone want a softer compound? It genuinely puzzles me as I cannot see any benefit to the racers what so ever.

I contacted Tal-Ko about 5 weeks ago and the response was that the tyre they were testing has a similar durability to the current tyre, the thing is though that even if it does last as long it still will require less skill to drive it if it's a grippier tyre.
