Hi all, i was wondering does the age of a set of SL6's affect their performance?

I've got a set that my mate had in his garage, but have been there for about 2 or so YEARS. When i had them on, the kart was sliding around a lot even though it was set-up not to, and i mean a lot, not a slight slip sometimes i was full broadside, and the tyre pressures where at about 14, and when we went lower nothing much changed. What i'm trying to ask is that, could it just be that these tyres are just old and have a dropped off a lot since they were new?

When we tried a set of Sl6's on the front, and a set of Maxxis enduro tyres on the back, i was still only half a second slower.
