The rule says that the existing (ie. diagonal) bars can be used as long as you fit CIK crash tested sidepods (ie. the plastic bits)

You don't have to use the crash tested "parallel" bars as it specifically states that you can use "... side bumpers with a minimum of one tube ..". The parallel mounting bars are all mabe from two tubes.
