hi im was hoping that an experianced mechanic could shed some light on the tryton carb settings for me. ive followed the general setup advice from zip and im running at present about 35/40 mins on the bottom screw (nearest the engine)and 55 on the top screw. this gives a tick over of between 1700/2000rpm on the stand. ive been running these settings for the last year with no problems alough we do seem to suffer with a lack of pickup out of the corners compared to someother drivers. (and i know this is not to do with the driver not carring enough speed, just incase its suggested) now i always thought that the back screw (nearest the engine)controlled the tick over and the low rpm and the forward was for high rpm?
recently i was told that in fact it is the bottom screw that controlls the high rpm and should be running that at around 60/70mins and the forward controlls the tick over and low rpm and should set that at about 30 /40mins.
now obviusly to run the back screw at 60/70mins id have to take up the throtle on the accelerator to get it to tick over but this is totally against what i have been running????
this has come from a front runner in cadets and has tested this on the dyno? can someone explain please.
thanks
