You might want to have them put that in writing for you as on clarification of that wording, some insurance companies are stating that cover evaporates once you cross the circuit boundaries.
One area, not on the active track, but within the circuit boundaries is a marshall's post. This is somewhere that a road car/van would be at serious risk of a collision. Many insurance companies have confirmed that they will not cover a vehicle parked here.
Here's the wording on my Admiral policy. Its quite specific about ACTIVITY and the LOCATION. For policies that don't specify only specify the location and not the activity, it would be wise to obtain written confirmation from the insurance company.
' The Policy does not cover : Use for hiring, merchandise delivery or use for any purpose in connection with the Motor Trade. Use on the Nurburgring Nordschleife, or for racing, competitions, rallies, track days, trials or speed tests either on a road, track, or at an off road 4 x 4 event or where the type of use is shown as excluded under the above heading "permitted use". '
I have been told that exclusions are an area that insurance companies have been tightening down on significantly in the past 12 months.
