The clerk handed out only a 2 second penalty because by his reckoning the lad was 2 seconds slower on average on the other laps he completed, no allowance was made for the time to recover from an earlier spin on the same lap and the time it would take to re-join and follow the correct route, which would have cost at least 20 seconds. When he re-joined the circuit he did so flat out accross the grass with no attempt to slow down, nearly taking out a pusher with no regard for the saftey of the other competitors, and ruined the races of several kids, the minimum penalty should have been a 1 lap penalty if the clerk was in a very good mood and IMO deserved black flagging for the manner in which he re-joined the circuit. I discussed it with the clerk and he basically told me that he had more important things to deal with as he thought 2 seconds was appropiate. I didnt bother with a protest as it wouldnt have benefitted us as we are not doing the championship but it will be a shame if someone who is doing the championship loses out at the end of the season by a few points to the lad concerned. If it was my lad i wouldnt have gone to collect an undeserved trophy, and I would have asked for his name to be removed from the results.
Hope its not the same clerk at Stars
