I did my arks test at rye in very bad wet conditions.

If it is the same arks instructor he will expect to see a decent level of 'wet' pace. Sorry if this is not the answer you are looking for but he only passed 2 out of 9 of us that day, so its not the formatlity some people say it is, in the wet at least.

I reckon if your driver performs well on the writen test and keeps it pointing the right direction it will stand him in good stead. Look out for standing puddles on the straight finish straight, theres usually a less wet line to avoid aquaplaining if you see what I mean.
