Its personal choice - go and try a few different ones.
The OMP one is a fairly thin, flexi shell. My son tried one.
I would say (my opinion only) it would be OK for avoiding aches and pains from normal cornering forces on low / med grip tyres if you are prone to that. Its a compromise between the soft shell and the hard shell types but would not stop a rib breaking / bruising against the seat in a shunt. We ended up with a FreeM one, which, like the Tillett, is much, much more rigid on the outside.
