TKM Group Win Award (12/01)
Three of the main driving forces that were instrumental in bringing large numbers of TKM drivers back to Clay Pigeon in 2008 were recognised at the annual awards ceremony last week. The Matt Percy Memorial Trophy was jointly awarded to Phil Harrison, Kevin Westbrook and Derek Hunt for their efforts behind the scenes to constantly help and encourage new drivers back to the popular Dorset circuit. Phil said afterwards "It's been fantastic to help bring juniors back. My son Lee races TKM and we love the formula. After several years of no juniors we now have a steady grid which I'm sure we can carry over into 2009 and we know there are some more newcomers that are starting soon." Kevin commented, "Derek and I both race in TKM Extreme and we've had some great racing this season. It's been very satisfying in having a hand in helping the newcomers into the sport and the award is just the icing on the cake." Derek Hunt who's been racing TKM at Clay for 13 years summed up "The award was a total surprise - it's fantastic! In my time racing I've seen the massive grids in the beginning right down to the lows of a couple of years ago, we knew we had to do something to save the class at Clay. We now work really hard to help newcomers into the sport giving them all the help and support that we can and we make a big effort to make it a friendly atmosphere at Clay and it's obviously working. Seeing the return to the good grids this year is hugely satisfying - the award is a bonus. TKM is a great class!
