Whatever you do try the valve first and the bead retainer seals (if you have them) before you do anything else, it only takes 2 minutes including inflation and might just save you some elbow (and tyre) grease?

From experience, if the bead has failed after having successfully been seated then the tyre is not worth using any more. Cream crackered! It'd be too old to have any grip left if it cannot seal the bead. Just think how tight the bead sits on the rim!
