The aim of the challenge is to promote the 125cc Open Gearbox class across the UK at club racing level. The challenge is open to MSA kart license holders for Novices, National B and above. In the passed several members of the ABKC have tried to get rid of 125's that are out of date so you have to buy new kit all the time.
It seems "Less Rules = More Fun" Common Sense!!!
It seems this clubman challenge has been devised with the intention of re-introducing the F125 Open class to short circuits. Our wish is to simply incorporate the challenge into a normal club event and run alongside and compliment the normal gearbox class. Now that the bodywork and bumper regulations have been adjusted for 2009 in the F125 Open class we hope to interest competitors with all types of 125 equipment whether they be the older British chassis or their modern day counterparts. Gearbox kart racing on short circuit badly needs a boost and we hope this can inject fresh interest and exposure, thus helping the clubs.
Our aim is to provide club level gearbox racing for all ages in 125cc karts.
The class is loosely based on the old CIK Formula C with some restrictions and modifications.
Karts conforming to the Formula 125 ICC (UK) / KZ2 UK regulations may compete in this class at their class weight of 180kgs. The F125 Open class has a National Championships on Long Circuit.
