Now that I've got your attention...
I've found the definitive solution to this problem (at least on UK-Karting noticeboard if no where else) and here it is:
It looks to me and every one else who can be bothered to read the now 4 extremely long threads on this subject, that Ian has a bee in his bonnet about it and regardless how many people have told him, in regardless what fashion, he won't stop twisting the issue in an attempt to getting HIS point forward! So the only way to avoid turning this noticeboard on a "Kerb Riding" talking point I propose to ignore any of Ian's attempts at continuing with the subject. Just simply abstain from replying on this subject PLEASE.
Anyone happening upon this place will think that our sport has a HUGE, HUGE problem and that we are a split bunch on this particular single issue. Time to stop.
I'm not for a second suggesting to ignore all his advice, he has a lot to give (obviously) and most is valid, let's just draw a line under this one. If possible.
