I'm going to be fitting both. I'm not removing my collars as from what I can see the nylon on these new devices will be worn down after every event [if not every race] if its solely relied on to protect the disc.
Actually that's a point, will scruts be checking karts on the dummy grid to see if they've the protectors in place ? I've a neat idea to save money on replacing these block after the first one of these gets worn.
Buy yourself a new nylon block. Fit it for scrutiny, then remove it and put the worn one back. If you're checked after you've been out, you can explain that the block must have been worn on track during that very race - a reasonable assumption wouldn't you think ?
... or have I spotted a loophole here ;-)
