When I made my first chassis, in 1976, and approached a tube supply company called Hub & Gillespie in north London, on explaining what I needed it for they immediateley said that they were the company that supplied Zip Karts with tube, and that it was an ordinary spec of CDS tube. They still trade as Hub le Bas, and I still use CFS3 from them when making chassis, although I have plans to make one from T45 when I can get the money together (its very expensive), just to see what difference it makes. Chassis these days just dont seem to be as durable as they were in the old days, and I attribute this to the use of mig welding which produces a stress raising small fillet profile and embrittlement of the tubing due to the high temperature, so I still bronze weld mine.
