It also depends on how mechanically minded you are yourself.
If you are good with tools and use to working with engines then TKM could be cheaper for you as you can do a lot of the engine work yourself.
Because the Rotax has a seal, if you want to race MSA with it, then you have to have the engine rebuilds done by a JAG approved sealing agent.
As stated earlier the Rotax is touch and go which makes life a lot easier if you are on your own. Although there are people who disagree with this. Personally at my age I am too old to start chasing after a kart down the pitlane or trying to jump into the seat as it takes off.
My mummy always told me not to jump onto a moving vehicle, its DANGEROUS.
Either way, get along to your local circuit and see what people are using and see what tickles your fancy.
Some things to remember, a new rotax engine is expensive, but its got a 12 month guarantee.
Be wary of claims about how many hours its done since last rebuild.
And just because the engine won the championship, it dont mean that you will be as quick as they were.
Good luck
