"A lot of the problems in karting are related to the age and therefore the immaturity of the drivers. Of course this cannot be fixed as karting is provided primarily for young drivers."
AMS has hit on the nub of kartings problem, here.
Karting used to be a port for adults, not kids.
Karting used to be to F1 what Speedway is to MotoGP, or what short oval Hot rod racing is to World Sports cars. Karting used to be a sport in its own right. It was not a part of the ladder to F1. The deliberate policy to make it so can be blamed on the kart trade and the msa. The sport has become full of wealthy types chasing fame and even more fortune for their kids. Their attitude problems are fuelled by the modern "you can achieve anything if you REALLY try" coupled with the simple fact that wealthy people tend to become used to getting their own way and dont like it when they can't.
I look forward to somebody introducing the sport of Real Karting, with karts like they were in the 60's - 80's, with the emphasis on simple rules & fun.
