I was told by the scrutineer that WD40 can set the sniffer off...hence the need for tyre soap, but there could be previous WD40 contamination around the area of the front wheel maybe ?
The whole subject depresses me because the whole MSA policing effort is a joke - & the use of tyre softeners can give tyre cheats a benefit of 1 - 3 seconds per lap depending on how hard the type of tyre treated is originally as standard.
What is the point of doing expensive testing, spending a fortune on the best engines etc, & dedicating yourself to building up a high level of skill if inexperienced (& sometimes experienced) cheats can turn up & make you look second rate ?
The fathers who do this of course are only cheating their kids ultimately because they will never learn to drive 'on the limit'.
