If the pid picked up a chemical, then it should not have been there. It is imaterial how the contamination occured. It is up to the competitor to ensure their tyres are clean. I am in no way implying you may have cheated by the way. It could be that the tyre bag has been contaminated and has passed that to the tyres. A pid is extremely sensitive, as it should be. If you were lucky enough to get checked before the race, then your day should not have suffered unduly. I am sure you would prefer these things to be detected, regardless of who is affected. I see people on here complain that testing is not done so be grateful that it has been carried out. If the pid only detects a chemical in a certain area then it is probably accidental contamination but if it is on the entire circumference then it would indicate the delibereate use of a chemical application.
