We went to an open practice session this weekend , first time in over a year as we normally practice on a race weekend. I was frankly shocked at the difference in experience and lap times of all the sessions. They ran cadet , junior , senior which is fair enough. But the difference in lap times in junior for example was:- fastest group under 33 secs slowest group 51 secs. The closing speed was very dramatic and visual on some sections of the track. Even in seniors the difference in experience was dramatic with some going round slower than the cadets!!!!!
Wouldn't it be safer to have sessions based on lap times with a range that you could register in, that way the slower and more inexperienced drivers could have fun and develop safely rather then be binned off by frustrated wanna be Hamiltons , and the serious racers able to get on with there testing without fear of T boning some 100kg guy on his first time out spinning on the straight (that actually happened )
Just my 10p's worth
