That's definitely a factor. It's just taken me 6 months to find somewhere to rent with a garage within a reasonable budget. A garage is a luxury more than it's ever been now and many are removed and with an extension to the house being built on it.

I think there are a lot of factors all working against DIY karters. Lack of knowledge, lack of time, lack of facilities. Time and facilities is a difficult one to overcome though and probably what stops a lot of potential DIY karters.
