Recently we met some guys from the FP4K championship. One of them told me his whole season cost £650 last year, all in. I asked how many sets of tyres he used and he looked at me like I was mad. Less than 1 was the answer! They can stretch out to one set per 2 seasons apparently if they want....They use something called a Duro I think.
So, why do you think such a tyre would not be used in a low cost formula for junior drivers? Just think, it could be beautiful. After all, if everyone is using the same tyre then absolute grip levels are irrelevant. We could even use a low cost freely available motor for this formula, maybe a Honda generator engine?
