It depends how you define professional (I won't use athlete as that term should be correctly applied to those that complete in the sport of track and field!!)

If it is paid for competing that would rule out half of the F1 grid!!

Having been on a concoction of prescription drugs over the past few years I can confirm that they can significantly impact on reactions. I tested myself on f1 2015 on PS4 and was 7-8 seconds a lap slower around silverstone when I felt the affects. Coincidentally 4 pints of Stella was only a second yet I would never consider driving with Stella!!
