I had to charge up the car battery that isn't used that often and checked the voltage after it had charged.

Out of curiosity I decided to check for current leakage and switched the meter to the current range and ran the probes from each terminal to various parts of the casework.

(obviously don't measure current between the two terminals if you value your meter!)

I was surprised just how much current leaks across the dirt on the battery especially with the batteries that have filler plugs that vent.

Keep the battery case really clean around the terminals and the top of the casework and you'll stop any spurios current draw that will increase if it gets damp.

I used WD40 and rubbed hard. I couldn't even measure a u amp afterwards.

Incidentally, never store a battery on cold concrete.
