My lad rolled his kart at Shenington, ended up with the kart on top of him and the helmet was declared a write-off. He was able to borrow a helmet and continue racing. One of his friends did a full forward flip and ended up with the kart on top of him, taken to hospital and kept in for a few hours. He could not remember anything about the accident when he woke up but simply asked his Dad if he could afford a new helmet so that he could race the next weekend. Neither lad was wearing a neck brace but it proves absolutely nothing as maybe they just happened to hit their heads at the best angle to avoid injury. I would never try to talk parents out of buying a neck brace but also could not recommend that they do buy one. I have seen a few purchased and then sold because the driver did not get on with them so I would suggest trying before buying if possible.
