It's not the MSA who state that the rumble strip is no longer a kerb. The Club has decided that the circuit limits regulations are not to be implemented.
The ribbed area is still defined as a kerb, so with or without a white line as soon as the driver puts wheels further than the ribbed kerbs they are deemed to have left the circuit.
With regards to driving standards I think for WM it is the lack of driving standards observers that is the issue. The flag marshals are there to do just that - flag. The incident marshals (of which there are 3 at WM) are there to deal with incidents. The Clerks whilst looking for issues have numerous other responsibilities. If there were 3 DSO's ( between post a and b, at c and in the area of pit in/ the book)
I do think it is a shame that the safety of competitors through the last corner is less important than keeping those that can't race by the rules happy. I am with Jeff - bring back the bark chips!
