As someone who was actually there and whose child was actually on the grid!!! All karts where on the dummy grid and the green flag was raised. It was a open meeting track drying and not raining so the majority of the grid where on slicks if memory serves me correctly 8 out of the 30 drivers where on wets! There was a hold up on grid because someone started to mess with their tyres on the floor the coc told the person they where not allowed to do this and they had to go off the back of the grid to which there was an argument as this child belonged to one of the teams meanwhile it had started to drizzle! The all of a sudden the owner of one of the cadet teams came running onto the grid with the competition organiser saying for health and safety all the competitors should be allowed to change to wets a boy died here last week!!! (yes a boy did unfortunately die which is awful, but he was in a different motorsport ministocks (the clue is in the title stock car driver using mini's)

There was lots of arguing as 2 of the main teams wanted to change. One team manager whose all drivers bar one where on slicks said that all the karts where on the floor and no changes can be made and they had made the wrong call so tough!! By this time it had started to rain properly but it still had not been called a wet meeting!! The coc was put under major pressure and he said he would not make a decision so the event organiser said it is my competition I am making the call you all have 4 mins to change tyres!! (That is why the original thread call the LGM what a joke!!!) By this time it was proper hammering it down so we do not have an issue with changing onto wets because rightly it wouldn't have been safe (although safety wasn't even considered when the b final went out half an hour before when all drivers where on slicks they had 3 false starts and red flagged the question was raised if they could change onto wets as it was throwing down and there where novices and inexperienced drivers in that group and they where not allowed) my major gripe was that gearing, ride height etc etc was changed it was like watching luigi (apologise for the spelling) change lightening mcqueen!!!!

All I would say is if it was a privateer who made the wrong call on tyres and all of the big teams where on wets and the dad started shouting health and safety I want the opportunity to change my boy onto wets would he have got the same result!!! I think we all know the answer to that one!!
