Firstly I know I am about to get a load of comments saying I'm out of order but we were really disappointed with Rissington today.
Firstly the length of the races, we paid £60 entry fee, then a £1.50 booking fee, so £61.50, then another £10 for a transponder as like many other people we have a tag transponder now, so our total entry fee was £71.50. We had a three lap practice, which equated to three minutes track time. Then three races and a final, the heats had a race time of between 5 1/2 minutes and 6 minutes, so in the heats we had 18 minutes of track time. Then a final with a race time of about 7 1/2 minutes..... So we had track time of about 28 minutes, when we got home we looked at hour meter, our engine today, including starting before racing, after racing and a few times in between had been running for 34 minutes..... We were always real supporters of rissington and we're going to join today, but decided against it.
One of the iame heats was a farce, a 7 lap race, 5 under the battenburg flag, and then a 2 lap sprint to the line, when this was questioned the reason was, 'if we red flagged it and restarted it we would have been tight for time'.
It feels like rissington has fallen into the trap of running too many classes.....some classes with only 4 competitors.....
We always felt rissington bent over backwards as they wanted us to race there, but sadly it feels like this has changed.
There were quite a few incidents today, and when these were mentioned to the clerk of the course he seemed not really bothered......
It's a real shame but it feels like it's time to race elsewhere.......
