You do know quite how effective placebos are, don't you?
Boardman used a bike that was lighter, REALLY stiffer (not just imagined) compared to it's weight and sat him in a more aerodynamic position. And of course, it was designed by a proper team........ Lotus!
..... on the subject of bikes...... perhaps you'd like to explain how, in 1993, Graeme Obree took world records on an (almost) sit-up-and-beg, partially home-made bike, part of which was from an old washing machine. See here for the details:-

I'd be happy to be convinced IF you can show me how a flexible (to the extent of being wobbly!) seat has an effect that is measurable when the axle, over which it sits is HUNDREDS of times stiffer. Please don't suggest 'triangulation': we both know that's wrong!
