Looking for a kart

Hi. my boys been doing arrive and drive at his local indoor and has progressed to within 0.15 of the all time track record so clearly has the ability.
We race oval motorsport generally but i want something we can both have some practice in locally at shenny or whilton mill or leicester just for the crack and so he can move up to a faster kart, ie progression.
For this the kart doesnt need to be able to be used on the track race wise so not sure on the rules now or how old stuff has to be?
Is there a kart we can buy that we can both have a go in? Needs to be middle of the road as he has only raced indoor arrive and drive stuff, i have raced a rotax but to be fair i dont need anything quite so quick !!
What options do we have? Just for general testing to move him up a gear but also so i can have a go too (if thats possible), he is 11 around 5 foot so need adjustabale seat or pedals.
As i say looking at a kart that is not able to race anymore thereby keeping down the cost.
Any ideas please
