In my whole driving career, outside lane with a trailer on the Motorway is the only driving offence I have been 'caught' for, so I can assure you of it! The offence is called an: M10 as it appears on your licence! It prevented me hiring a car for a while! 11 points for Speeding would have been OK (as far as Hertz was concerned) but an M10 (fixed penalty notice and 3 points) was counted as FAR too risky......

It was particularly galling as there had been an accident that blocked the inside lanes, we all moved to the out lanes but the traffic jam continued after the blockage. I was unable to pull in as the traffic was too heavy and I had a HUGE trailer but.... they still booked me!

It's the same law which is supposed to prevent Artics from being in the outside lane.
