We joined Whilton Mill Kart Club with a view to racing Junior TKM this season
We paid full price for our membership, then found out that we could only race for 6 months of the year (TKM is only running April to September as there isn’t enough interest). Oh well thought I, at least we can practice. On Saturday 24th my son and set off early to practice as we knew it would be busy as it was race weekend and it’s a 140 mile round trip.
We eventually got parked up and went into race control only to be told we couldn’t practice. Why? Because the grids were full. We could go out on track with Junior X30 but as soon as the final 3 X30s had signed on, we would have to come off.
It sounded like good value (not) for what could have been 20 minutes running so we declined.
We spent the morning helping friends and at lunchtime we headed to a track that we knew we would get on and spent the afternoon testing
I am now disillusioned with WMKC and my 11 year old son is gutted that he couldn’t test.
I know of at least 4 other Junior TKMs who would have joined WMKC and along with the others that have joined, they could have had decent grids all through the year.
If there was another class we could move to, we would. He is simply too heavy for Cadets or Minimax, too young for X30.
Needless to say, Im a little peeved with WMKC at the moment
