Amusingly.......From what I know about running my own series....... Based on the cost of hiring a circuit, supplying kart, engine, mechanics, transport, hotels, meals, officials etc to run the meeting.....then adding in the cost of buying the karts and engines at wholesale....... at 35k plus vat it probably only needs 8 entries per class across two classes....16 entries..... running over six rounds to be a big financial success....
Income would be £560,000 exc. vat, and THAT will DEFINITELY cover the costs AND make a nice profit.... with a HUGE amount of track time for everyone. How it would be viewed as a successful competitive event is another matter.
At those numbers I would comfortably pay all the costs, including my TV crew, and make a comfortable living.... and that is before potential Sponsorship arrangements. This is nothing to do with people making money from the sport ( I earn income from filming) or how much they make. I only make the point that in order to run at all, it will probably only need 16 entries..... actually...... even less than that..... maybe as low as 12..... to be a real financial success. And look on the positive side.... the Clerks should have no issues spotting the "loading" in turn 1......
If I got ten entries per class across TWO classes, paying me £35,000 each exc Vat....I would DEFINITELY run the event.
