paul, engineers work Is appreciated. by those in the know. but as a form of entertainment, racing is not there for those in the know, but everyone.the banners i see around the spectator enclosures dont shout "mercedes, williams etc" but "hamilton, alonso etc"; the vast majority are just not interested in the equipment, they want to see RACING, not a display of technical excellence. i AM interested in finding the best driver.re read my post re the DFV days; my point is you could build a simple (and cheap) but effective ally monocoque, get a customer DFV, go racing and win. its the formula that has made ff1600 the most successful and entertaining category in the history of the sport. same old ohv engine, bend a few bits of tube, glue them together and race. no pit stops, technology, aerodynamic or driver aids; simples. you have to WORK for overtaking opportunities in ff1600. they have no grip and no power and you,ve got to ring every last horsepower out of a 50 year old design without breaking it. not as easy as it looks
