Or maybe Talko could offer to upgrade all the old barrels on an exchange basis with new CNC liners at a reasonable price? It would be in their interests to keep the class alive.
Personally I think all the moves to "improve" the class with stickier tyres, CIK type chassis and CNC barrels have been retrograde steps. At the time they were brought in they made a lot of existing kit obsolete. Result was that those drivers who could afford to had to upgrade while those who couldn't struggled on for a while and then threw in the towel. The class was destroyed in the north.
Had the owners of the old engines been given the chance to have them fettled by local tuners for a few quid they might have seen this as a positive step compared to ditching their old barrel and spending £400 on a new one. Instead of giving up they might still be competing now.
