I was there too watching the race, my brother was in the Junior Britain final, obviously Herbert & Sutton in Junior National & I think he knocked him off at the bottom corner by the pits/nearest the paddock didn't he ? I was 200% sure that they won the 'protest' as it was back in the day and therefore the Championship as he recovered to 2nd and Sutton was excluded. Makes me laugh when people say barging off etc never happened, that teams ruined the sport etc, well as far as i was aware Sisley, Zip, Deavinson etc ran teams in the day & won so as far as i'm aware it's still exactly the same, just more/bigger motorhomes & costs more to get to the front even on a pro-rata basis. Thats from running my son in cadet for 2 years, my brother was 2nd in British Champs as a lads & dads team in late 70's buying engines & tuning them ourselves against the 'teams' but even with his talent i'm not sure we could replicate that in Cadets/MiniMax even with the proportiantely higher spend so maybe it has changed ! But certainly some peoples views need to be without the rose tinted specs on !
