The situation:

As a driver.

You are in a mixed grid race, back of the first grid. The other grid starts some 200 metres behind you.

After a few laps, you start getting shown the blue flag, first just shown, then waved, then waved furiously from every marshal's post round the track.

Nobody gets past you, though you are aware that other karts are making an attempt. Eventually one kart does and it is the leader of the second grid. The blue flags continue to be waved.

Do you:

A) Continue to hold your racing line, even though this is stopping people overtaking you?

B) Permit the other karts to pass, until you aren't shown the blue flag anymore?

C) Wait until contact is made because the faster karts have to make an inherently risky overtake?

and would your choices be different if you thought it was your own grid who were lapping you?

Secondly, as the overtaking kart, where the kart in front had been continuously been shown a blue flag would you:

a) sit there until there was a clear overtaking opportunity?

b) create the opportunity even if it resulted in contact, say with a move that risked contact, such as a lunge up the inside taking a lot of kerb?

c) advise the other driver that you were there and impatient with a nudge or two to the bumper?

d) shove him out of the way on the grounds that he has been shown three blue flags and that's an offence in F1 so it isn't really contact?

As CoC, would you:

a) leave them to get on with it because a blue flag doesn't mean get out of the way and it is the overtaking kart who has to overtake.

b) consider that the obstructing driver is effectively blocking another driver since he is not racing for position and give him a warning flag / black flag

c) wait for contact to occur and punish accordingly

d) accept that the obstructing driver is unaware of the contrasts between maintaining a racing line and being aware of the race situation (as in being lapped)and explain at the end of the race.

e) Warn your officials that there is likely to be a degree of antagonism in parc ferme and to prevent it becoming an incident.
