They(The MSA) are slowly, very slowly, listening, however their recent survey centrered on around if you had taken part in non MSA Karting before joining MSA racing(this survey was to licence holders 2008 to present). This was basically asking if that participation was PRO Kart /arrive and drive or or using your kart to basically play on at a track. It did not mention or indeed it seemed to overlook the rise in IKR and had no questions about it. They have been offered a meeting with a group of karters who have been in it for over 50 yrs from officials to drivers/circuit /club operators ,to imput some feedback, they declined the offer. They do not seem to be able to comprehend a circuit can get 40 to 50 MSA (massive downturn to 3 yrs ago)drivers turning up,opposed to over 100 for an INDYkart meeting. Entry fee is about the same,3 races and a final, trophies to 3rd usually, transponders free if you need one (£165 saving) tyres thrown away by MSA drivers (foc) ,everything else costs the same EXCEPT .. no ARKS test (£80) no MSA driver pack (£45)no medical every year if over 45 (upwards of £100) Never known in INDY, 2nd ever MSA meeting as a NOVICE newbie on a Formula Blue off the back of Rotax Jnr race, excluded from the final results, non compliance, his tilly carb top was the wrong one had raced previous month so had previous owner of the engine with it never came up,result no trophy, kid gutted, gear sold, now walked from karting thats an MSA result for you.
