1) When the one behind has started accelerating sooner.
2) The momentum of a 5 kart train is greater than that of a 1 kart train.
3) I didn't say it wouldn't happen, I said the gaps are bigger so it's much less likely to get that large train of karts pushing (again, borne out by evidence) and it will be easier to spot if it does occur. Moreover, any kart that starts significantly slower will be driven around.
There's something like 25 starts at a S1 weekend, plus the 4-5 from PFi Minimax makes approximately 30 starts. Crashes went from almost every heat to no crashes at the first corner.
Whilst I agree that a better solution is to enforce the rules more stringently and I would personally prefer rolling starts, you simply cannot say that we'll see more crashes with standing starts or those starts will be more dangerous, especially when the evidence points to the contrary.
And as a final anecdote, even a relatively spread out rolling start will have accidents similar to a stalled kart/car on the grid. The Birtcar 24hr 2008 start was a big one, which led to the first hour or so being run behind the safety car:
